From 1996 until February 2006 the station used to have a cat called Alfie who was fed and looked after by all members of staff. As its food was bought by London Underground everybody used to say that Alfie was on London Underground payroll. Last February though, having become too old to remain at the station, Alfie was adopted by one of the Station Supervisors.
